Xodol

National Institute of Health classifies xodol as a narcotic prescription drug that is used in the treatment of severe to moderate pain. Xodol is classified as a Schedule II drug which means it is potentially habit developing and causing abuse and dependence. Xodol is a combination of acetaminophen and hydrocodone which makes it quite similar to vicodin and zydone – also prescription drugs that are used for the treatment of pain. The only difference between the three is the amount of acetaminophen in each of the drug. The main function of acetaminophen in Xodol is to block prostaglandin (the main reason behind the pain in the body) from the body while hydrocodone in the drug gives the feeling of sedation and euphoria to the brain and the body.

Xodol Dependency

Xodol is a narcotic drug and has a combination of acetaminophen and hydrocodone which makes it potentially addictive and habit-forming. This prescription medication must be taken under the strict orders and recommendation of a doctor in order to avoid the misuse and abuse of this prescription drug. Until and unless xodol is taken the way a doctor recommends, it is safe and the chances of dependency are quite nil, however when a person starts using this drug for the sole reason of getting the feeling of being high or euphoria, the real danger begins. This prescriptopn drug works by getting attached to the neuroreceptors in the brain which is the reason behind the feeling of high.

According to survey reports from the Drug Enforcement Administration, a shocking 23 million people have used hydrocodone for recreational or non-medical purposes. When a person get used to the drug, the neuroreceptors in the brain start craving the drug and when the person does not get the usual fix, the body goes into withdrawal. These withdrawal symptoms are quite draining both physically and mentally and when a person goes through these withdrawals alone the chances of a relapse are quite high.

Side Effects of Xodol

When taking Xodol, a person needs to be careful as Hydrocodone – one of the active ingredients is an opioid, which means long term and regular use of this medication can cause serious drug addiction and dependence. Xodol can cause various side effects if it is taken in high doses. Side effects include:

  • Anxiety
  • Palpitation
  • Paranoia
  • Hallucinations
  • Extreme dizziness and drowsiness
  • Seizures
  • High body temperatures

These side effects often occur when a person takes xodol against the recommendation or in higher doses as told by the doctor.
